PARICHAAY

An inaugural Program of the BAF

The “Parichay” (Introduction) programme organized by the Bangani Art Foundation (BAF) was successfully conducted on 24 November 2025 at the Rasika Art Society in Jawahar Lal Nehru Government College of Fine Arts, Shimla. The event was conducted in a well-organized and engaging manner, with the participation of approximately fifty students from the college.

During the session, the BAF team presented a comprehensive introduction to the foundation, outlining its vision, objectives, and the range of initiatives undertaken to support emerging artists. The programme aimed to familiarize students with the foundation’s commitment to mentoring and fostering artistic development, particularly among young practitioners from mountainous regions of India.

Members of the BAF team—Akarshan Bora, Sugam Gaur, Aakash, and Amit Singh—also shared insights from their individual artistic journeys. They reflected on their experiences and discussed how, over the past four to five years, BAF has provided sustained mentorship, opportunities, and encouragement to them as well as to other emerging artists from the Himalayan region. The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students raised queries related to contemporary art practices and creative processes. The discussion fostered an open and intellectually engaging exchange, allowing participants to articulate their perspectives and interact informally with the visiting artists.

It was also noted that in the previous year BAF had extended invitations to emerging painters from Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh to participate in its art mentorship programme, an initiative that the foundation intends to continue in the coming years.
